Joyce L. Van Enkevort/Great Lakes Trader
She's been M.I.A. for over a month. Last I heard she was in Sturgeon Bay for repairs, I believe. Is she still there? And what repairs were needed?

Mesabi Miner and Edwin H. Gott
Both are in slips next to the fuel dock in the Twin Ports. The Mesabi Miner came from loading in Silver Bay, straight to Duluth. Anyone heard anything about these two boats?

Steel production halted/Long term layups.
U.S. Steel has halted production in Gary IN because they lack iron ore due to ice conditions. I was wondering, if conditions don't improve quickly, what are the chances that some of the long term layups would be pulled out of mothballs and used to get the steel mill's inventories up?

Re: St. Mary's Challenger
What a crappy day for boatnerds. First I read that the USCGC Storis has been sold for $71,000 to a Mexican scrapping company, and now they want to mutilate the St. Mary's Challenger. This stinks!

Too many of the Canadian boats look really bad. However, the U.S. fleet hasn't looked real good the past five years, either.Guest wrote:Great hope it gets painted, looks rough

Re: munson
The John G Munson is currently anchored just outside of the Duluth harbor. Word has it the ice in the harbor is too thick for the tugs to break and she has to wait for the Alder to get back.
If anyone else has more info, please post it.

Re: Last Boat at the Soo Locks?
From the looks of the twin ports and Two Harbors schedule, I'd say the Edwin H. Gott will be the last boat up bound, and the Presque Isle will be the last boat down bound.

Must have been a glitch. AIS now has her south of Caribou Island heading towards Whitefish Bay.
