Re: Algoma Endurance updates

Denny- Believe you're referring to the Algoma Endeavour. Original name Algoma listed for this ship was Endurance, but now it's Endeavour. Launched Feb 19, 2024, and article mentions a June 2024 completion estimate. If that occurs, expect mid/end July arrival? Post launch picture attached. Looking fo...

Re: Algoma

Old Sailor - Main reason for tankers in general to appear less rusty (hullsides), is they typically have less lock transits, whether that's Soo or Welland Canal. Rubbing guide walls entering the locks and lock walls themselves in the full Seaway size lakers takes a toll on their hulls and paint. Whe...

Re: New Algoma Vessel

That video of Algoma Vision dates to 2018, according to my research. So, Algoma Vision is not the newest ACC vessel, as she was built in 2013, for previous owner. Algoma purchased her second hand. Appears Algoma's new self-unloader for the CSL International Ocean Pool service is due for delivery Jul...

Re: Algoma Niagara question

If I'm interpreting this correctly, that "south channel" between Bois Blanc Island and Cheboygan is seasonally closed after Soo Locks close each season.
Here's a quick notification from 2019 season:

Kathy McKeil will have her tanker forebody removed and a new bulker forebody installed, with cranes, not a self-unloading boom.

Scott,
Yes, Algoma Bear is a 740' S-U with aft-mounted boom. She will feature some of the improvements of the recent Captain Henry Jackman, like dual rudders for example.

Re: algoma central newest oil tanker

Algoma's primary petroleum customer is Imperial Oil, headquartered in Calgary. This dates back to 1998, when Algoma purchased Imperial's domestic tanker fleet.

Re: Delivering Freighter

When Algoma & CSL first started building ships using overseas yards, they sent crews over to familiarize and then sail the ship back. That didn't last long. I know Algoma typically uses a ship delivery company to make the delivery trips.

Re: Algonorth sold off lakes

I would agree with the idea that Algonorth is still owned by Algoma, listed under their tanker fleet on webpage, still named Algonorth, and under Canadian Flag. All this points to a trading area change only, to be under Furetank management, is my thought also.

Excellent.
Also, hulls 527-529 are the 740' Self-Unloaders with fwd booms.
Hull 527 is the one contracted for completion at this time.

Re: Nukumi - Canada STeamship Lines Newbuild

I believe Nukumi has stone cargo onboard to provide stability for delivery trip. With her being Nova Scotia class, U don’t believe temporary deck stiffening was not required Regarding question on single point loading system, Nukumi has a small “shed” at midship that opens to a conveyor just below de...
