I do too. And I suspect that a few establishments in Marine City miss it as well. I suspect that there may be a sale and the new owner could be from either side of the river. A lot of maintenance will be required along with the repairs before its operational again.

Re: Sykes
When was the last time that the Sykes was on the St.Clair River? I've been watching freighters on the St. Clair for just 14 years and don't ever recall of her being this far south-east.

BTW, I see that she is still at Toledo. Must be something serious.

Re: Sykes
The Sykes spent a very long time at the Sombra aggregates dock yesterday unloading a split load. When I saw her, the boom was hanging off to the side with nothing being unloaded. This was 4 hours after she arrived at around 9:00. I see she left just before midnight. Anyone know what the problem was?...

How is the mixture ignited when the engine is running on LNG. I would think that a spark of some kind would be required to light the mixture, although I had heard at one point, that ignition occurred with a pilot injection of diesel just as with regular diesel running but the remaining mixture was L...

Captain Henry Jackman?
I watched the Jackman go by yesterday and noticed a rare downbound trip in ballast. AIS indicates a destination of Goderich but she just came from there. She's looking more than a little tough. She's heading down Lake Erie now destination is still Goderich.
Any ideas as to what's up?

Re: American Victory
Thank you very much for that explanation. I was wondering if there was room at the tapered ends for at least one tug. Otherwise, there had to be some kind of winching operation going on with the tow ship onboard winches doing the work but that would require onboard auxiliary power.

What's going on aboard the PRT? She's been at Monroe since early Thursday morning and was out at the Monroe anchorage this morning.

Re: American Victory
I can understand the process of taking a scrap tow through a single stage lock with the lead tug locking down, trailing tug pushing the tow into the lock and backing out, the tow locks down and gets pulled out and trailing tug locks down. But how do they proceed through the flight locks in the Welle...

The tug Cheyenne joined her just above 11/12 and they are heading for the bridge. Should be very visible from the bridge right now as they are just coming up to 1/2 at 6:55 travelling at 6.1 Knots.

rare trip by the Prentice Brown
Prentice Brown usually sails on Lake Michigan occasionally coming around to Alpena but I hadn't yet seen her on the St.Clair River. I missed her trip downbound and will not see her on this upbound trip. I hope she comes this way more regularly.

Ships still on the wall
I'm surprised at the number of ships that have not yet left winter lay-up. And they are mainly Algoma and ASC. Are these ships waiting until the ice issues at the Soo and eastern Lake Erie are reduced so that less damage occurs to the ships and they are a little more productive?

Re: Last year for the Jackman
It may be that the Jackman laid-up inside the Wellend and hence did not arrive at Port Colbourne. I suspect that the same arrangement would have occurred with the Algolake if she had proceeded upbound in the St.Lawrence in that she would not have been considered the first to arrive because she was a...

Re: how many Frontenacs were there?
Thank you for the responses.
Did all of these Frontenac's carry their name for their entire existence. If they did, that means that there were 3 Frontenacs on the lakes between 1968 and 1972.

how many Frontenacs were there?
I'm looking through my ship history and I've come across some confusion. KYS lists the current Frontenac as Frontenac(5) with an IMO of 6804848 and built in 1968. Another site lists 6804848 as the former Illusrtious built in 1923. Another site lists the current Frontenac as IMO 5121976 and built in ...

I haven't seen any sign of the Algosea on AIS. Last report is Nanticoke on the 6th. Is she on a short winter lay-up or is it taking that long to load/unload?

Surely accounting would have taken the Canadian dollar income and American dollar operating expenses into account when they quoted contracts. Its not like the Canadian dollar suddenly went from par to 80 cents.

Re: Federal Biscay Entrapment in Snell Lock
The Seaway is finally clear. The Federal Biscay cleared the last lock around 6:00P last night and the 2 Ocean Groupe tugs, that were assisting followed, shortly after.
This must be going into the record books as the latest closing date for the Seaway.
