The good news is that easterly gales have blown the ice out of the Straits of Mackinac and will probably help open the waters at the east end of Lake Superior. The bad news is that Duluth has NE gale warnings posted until Tuesday night. That could really pack the ice into the entrances to Duluth and Superior and might require some icebreaking operations there.
