Winds Force Partial Closure of Mighty Mack
Posted: 2/18/2011
Winds clocked in at around 54 miles per hour have forced the Mackinac Bridge Authority to partially close the bridge.
That means that only passenger cars, vans, and empty pick up trucks are allowed to cross the Mackinac Bridge until further notice.

Nice weather and mild temps are a thing of the past.
We will be below zero in parts of Mn again by tonight, with up to 12" of snow for Sunday . Good thing the boats are not out on Superior today!
Tonight...Northwest Storm Force Winds To 55 Knots Diminishing To Gales To 45 Knots After Midnight. Heavy Freezing Spray. Snow Showers Likely. Waves Subsiding To 22 To 27 Feet...Then Building To 25 To 30 Feet.

Re: Lake Superior Winds
I can see the roughness of the water in the canal on the Duluth Web Cam. Given your milder temps I expected to see more melting of the ice in the harbor though. On Port Huron (MI) River Cam the snow along the bank at Pine Grove Park is about gone and the river seems clear of ice at that point. Snow melt here in Racine, WI has been significant. Yea! But, more snow on the way for the weekend. Boo!
