Thanks for answering, but I thought they were waiting to head north. They don't need Great Lakes pilots to head north, do they? While I'm at it, are pilots needed to go thru the Soo Locks? Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that salties need pilots whenever they are moving.

All of the ships have orders and are simply awaiting pilots.

I noticed that there are still several freighters in Lake Huron Anchorage. Why is that?
