I was caught by the storm in Minneapolis at a convention, and ended up staying an extra day. Oddly enough, I had budgeted for an extra day just in case, so it was not a problem.

We received 37 inches in Duluth from that storm. I worked overnight Halloween night and when I left work that morning I drove all over Duluth Heights to find a way home. I was driving thru stoplights and stop signs because if I stopped I'd never get moving again. I don't know how I did it, but I made it to within 3 feet of my garage door before I got stuck. We got some big snow where I grew up in Michigan, but never a storm like that one.

The name of the boat in Perfect Storm was the Andrea Gail. The Andrea Doria sank in the Atlantic in 1956 in a collision with the Stockholm.
