Sad indeed to hear of Ed's passing and now my thoughts along with prayers are for Ed's family in this most difficult time. He will be missed indeed but, now he is up there somewhere watching over all of us boatnerds along with watching the Fitz, Bradley and the Morrell and all other ships that have left us along with many of our boatnerd friends as well such as Stan and Lady Pirate to name a few. I am sure that they are all having a cup of tea along with all kinds of goodies as well and talking about old times. God Bless you Ed and 3L and 2S as you will be missed on this board but you will never ever be forgotten. Also sad to hear of Jimmy Hobaugh's passing as well. Not only have we lost our dear friend EddyFitz but now, another one from the night the Fitz went down we have lost as well! There are not many left unfortunately that were there the night the Fitz went down as too many of them have now passed on and left us. Now we are left with just their stories in books and vidoes and what we can only imagine in our minds of that night!

Sorry to hear this..We lost another of the old-timers from the early Boatnerd days..i always enjoyed his commentary.

On a separate note, I saw an article that Capt. Jimmie Hobaugh passed away Friday, at the Soo.

From the Soo Evening News:

"HOBAUGH, CAPTAIN JIMMIE, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan passed away at his home on Friday evening. Arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced by C.S. Mulder Funeral Home and Cremation Services."

Very sad indeed. Ed will truly be missed and my thoughts and prayers now go out to the family. Back in the 80's I used to fish a lot on the St. Clair river and an older gentleman I talked to a lot once told me "in Heaven you can still watch the Fitzgerald-Bradley and Morrell go by" if this is the case then I am sure Ed is doing it right now. RIP Ed you will be missed.

Also sorry to hear that for Eddyfitz and his family as I also always enjoyed his commentary and livelihood on this board. He always had something good and educational to say and his posts were always entertaining, fun and educational. Get well soon Ed as we here at boatnerd are all praying and pulling for a speedy recovery and get well soon! My thoughts and prayers also go out to him and his family. May God watch over him and bless him and also his family as well. Ed get well soon as we miss you and need you back here soon. Take it easy and give yourself plenty of rest and R&R and take a slow bell and do what the docs tell you. God Bless you!

He helped me with some of my research, very knowledgeable in the shipbuilding fields. My hopes and prayers for him and his family.
