Craig:

You don't have to take a cruise to see the Welland Canal, although I must admit I would like to take the dinner cruise.

Locks 1, 3, 7, and 8 are quite visible, unless there is construction, which doesn't usually happen in the summer. There is a viewing gallery at Lock 3, and you can stand close to the south end of locks 1 & 7.

There are also some good spots between the locks to see the ships. We also like watching ships in Port Colborne harbour, and getting fish & chips from Minors.

Hi Steve,

Thanks so much... this is very helpful

Really want to get up that part of the world and see the Wellend Canal and the locks, we have nothing like that out here.

Best Regards,

Craig

If you are looking to just run through the Welland Canal, one of the dinner cruises during Port Colborne's Canal Days (July 31-August 3, 2015) is the only regular choice that I know of. Usually on the tall ship Empire Sandy. The 2015 schedule is not on the web-site yet.

There are some longer cruises available.

Pearl Mist, Grande Mariner, and Grande Caribe operated in 2014. St Laurent is new for 2015.

Welland canal Cruises

Greetings,

We would like to know if any cruise companies offer cruises that will include a transit through the Welland canal.

We are out in San Francisco, and are planning a trip to that part of the wold this coming summer.

Thanks in advance
