Ship watching spots near Port Huron

I have two favorite spots in the Port Huron/Marysville area that provide a look of7-10 miles of river. Lincoln Park on Military Street in Port Huron, just north of Marysville and Marysville boat launch across from Marysville Park at the foot of Huron Ave.

Most photographers will not give out their spots, thinking is, drive around and find what you like. (like the daily pix takers did) E G. hard to get a picture yesterday w/o getting elbowed, or the back of a head. There was a joke going around the fishing rail, the suburbans must each brought a fish, so the urbans didn't have to fish. Cause there wasn't an urban fisherman anywhere's, and you couldn't get close to the fishing rail.
we moved on, just so the same picture from diff. folk didn't get posted.
Everyone has the right to the shore (if not trespassing) "of course". I am saying the old fisherman doesn't give away his favorite fishing hole to the extent of anchoring a marker, "x" distance from where the spot really is, yet every one has the right to the water. We found spots where the impatient ones didn't go to first, they were driving up as we were moving on. It was quite comical in fact. Great to see, it was quite a cluster at the better spots. I noticed a long time contributor was on a ladder at Hart Plaza to get a shot of which hundreds of others also got.

There are a few turnout spots near the Bluewater Bridge along the Thomas Edison Parkway in Port Huron. This area is your best bet for seeing the traffic pass close by and also going up and down and passing beneath the Bluewater Bridge. As they are coming down and in from Lake Huron, sometimes you might get lucky and see some with ice on their bows. Keep in mind also in Port Huron that the Maritime Center at Vantage Point will be closed in December at that time and will not reopen until March. If you are familiar with the Port Huron area and along the St. Clair River, a few miles just south of Port Huron are the towns of Marysville and St. Clair which are also good spots for boatwatching and picture taking. The ships here come in very close to shore and the Shell Fuel Dock is across from Marysville. Sometimes ships will fuel here. St. Clair is also nice and they will have "Christmas Garland and decorations up in the park making for a nice background photo." Good luck in your ventures and hope you have a nice time and visit. What areas are good for ship watching in the Port Huron/Sarnia area? I need to stay on the US side of the river. We don't have passports. The wife and I have been thinking of driving up there for a couple of days after Christmas.
