Dick was a great guy. Gregarious, friendly, knowledgeable, and after all these years he was still proud to be a Hanna man.

Dick was a truly grand and kind gentleman and I will truly miss him! He was a go to for history because he lived it and he would pass it on in the most entertaining prose.
Prayers for comfort to his family and I will miss him on my visits to Duluth.

For those that may not be aware of the news, it is posted on the Duluth Shipping News' website by Ken Newhams that a dear friend and I am sure devoted boatnerd Dick Bibby passed away yesterday at St. Luke's Hospital in Minnesota at the age of 93. It mentions the cause of death and everything else related. I never had the chance or opportunity to meet Dick although I have heard lots of great stories about the man. A sad loss so close to Christmas time. May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort and faith at this difficult time. At 93 though, I have to say that Dick lived a full and long life and now he is up there in boatnerd heaven with his friends and I am sure a few ships as well. God Bless Dick Bibby and also a hearty 3 Long and 2 Short. Smooth Sailings and calm seas!
