Does anyone know which tall ship followed The Pride of Baltimore out into the lake around 5:45. Also the Canadian tall ship that came up just before Niagara at 8 pm?

The Pride of Baltimore should be passing Port Huron sometime after 3.00, followed by the Denis Sullivan, Niagara and Appledore IV, hopefully all within an hour or so. Should be most interesting.

The Spanish El Galeon Andalucía is quit a bit behind these vessels.

Thanks for that heads up and information Guest as I appreciate it. Unfortunately due to the heat, humidity along with being under the weather it appears that I will once again be missing the tall ships sailing up the St. Clair River this week. What a bummer as I was looking so forward to seeing them especially the Spanish one and the Viking one as well since this is the first time that both of them have visited here! Maybe with some luck, cross my fingers and say my prayers that I might catch some of them on the return trip back down later in the fall. From the looks and sounds of what you provided for information, it appears that July 12 maybe the day to see them moving upriver. I say this only since they left port today at least some of them and they also move very slow! Don't know how far they would travel today but, I don't think they travel at night during darkness? So I would bet that during the daylight tomorrow, they should be passing the Detroit and St. Clair Rivers.

The Tall Ships are leaving Fairport Harbour

The Pride of Baltimore, Appledore IV and the S.V Sullivan have left port and heading for the Pelee Pass. The Galean Andalucía and the Dragen Harold Harfragen are about to leave while the Mist of Avalon and the Niagara do not appear to have their tracker devices turned on. (The Niagara is still showing as being in the Upper Michigan area)

Thanks for providing that great link and website to amazon for both of the tall ships books. Now I finally have something that my Mom can get me for my birthday even though it was just a couple of days ago now. Also, thanks to everyone for providing tracking information and websites for them as well. Would love to be out there and see them pass by Port Huron on their way to Bay City but, I have been very sick with a bad cold and I don't think that I want to chance making things worse on that issue by going out after the Tall Ships! Yeah I know you may not see a few ever again but, it is what it is and that's all I got to say on that issue. I do wish again to thank the good folks for providing that link to the two books on the tall ships on amazon. Those look like really nice books and I can't wait to order and get my copies sent to me.

I work for a publishing company based out of the Twin Cities, and we recently published Tall Ships: History Comes to Life on the Great Lakes, which was released to coincide with the events on the Lakes this summer.

The book covers a wide variety of Tall Ships that have visited the Great Lakes during previous Tall Ship events; it also features many of the tall ships that are based on the various ports around the lakes.

The book features full-color photos of each vessel, specs on each vessel as well as sea stories. Many of the vessels in the upcoming events are covered (they don't release the lists in advance, so we did the best we could), as well as many that have visited in previous years.

The Appledore iv past Port Huron yesterday morning and the S.V.Denis Sullivan later in the day. She now appears to be in the Put-in-Bay area, heading for Fairport Harbor.

On the Tall Ship tracker page, the Niagara appears to be in Charlevoix, which is possible wrong since she is based out of Erie, a day sail from the Fairport Harbor.

Tall ship El Galeon Andalucia cleared Welland Canal this evening after a delay in the Canal earlier in the day. The Viking ship Draken Harald Harfagre is moored at small boat dock in Port Weller harbour and will begin her canal passage Tuesday morning. Pride of Baltimore II remains in Lake Ontario leisurely circling and is presumed to be transitting the Canal also on Tuesday. The Mist of Avalon also passed up the Canal earlier today; all having a destination of Fairport Ohio to begin with before visiting other Great Lakes ports. Barry

A number of vessels are participating at the Toronto Tallship Festival, July 1-3.

Several of them will be transiting the Welland Canal, likely on Monday or Tuesday on their way to Fairport Harbour, for the Talldhip Festival there from July 8 - 10th., including:

Dragon Harald Harfagre
El Galeon Andalucía
Pride of Baltimore
Pathfinder and
Playfair.

Other vessels in Toronto are the Empire Sandy, Fair Jeanne and the St. Lawrence.

The following vessels are expected to be in the Fairport Harbor from July 7 thru the 10th. http://www.tallshipsfairportharbor.com/ships

and will most likely sail up the St.Clair on July 12th. to be in Bay City by late Wednesday or Thursday.

The Playfair and Pathfinder, although not part of the Fairport Harbor Festival, will be leaving Windsor on the 11th. for Bay City.

The Appledore IV went North past Port Huron this morning
and is expected back down on her way to Fairport on July 4th.

I would like to agree with the first Guest on his comments and posts as I too would like to see a forum or something set up to where us nerds can follow and track the tall ship movements and also provide some website links. I know about the one I think it is that the first Guest provided but, other than the AIS sites such as Marine Traffic and here on boatnerd I would like to know far and wide in advance when they will be passing Port Huron as well as I don't want to miss any of them and I have a bad feeling that I will probably miss them without accurate AIS reports and sightings. Would also like to track them on boatnerd AIS but, one of their maps is down and has been since early May. Hope to see it back up and running soon and then maybe I can see and track them and hope not to miss them. Any information is appreciated. Thank You.

Viking replica ship sails the St. Lawrence after crossing the Atlantic

6/25 - Brockville, Ont. – A traditional Viking ship that set sail from the west coast of Norway in late April is on the St. Lawrence Seaway this weekend. The nearly 100-foot long Draken Harald Haarfagre, or Harold the Fair Haired, crossed the Atlantic to Iceland, Greenland, and Newfoundland, and is on its way to the Great Lakes. The replica 11th century Viking ship is retracing the steps of Viking expeditions from more than a 1,000 years ago.

The ship and its 33 crew members will take part in a Tall Ships celebration in Toronto next month, and eventually visit the port city of Duluth, Minnesota on Lake Superior. The Draken, which means "dragon" in English, docked in Brockville, Ontario late Thursday night.

A large crowd gathered at the Eisenhower Lock in Massena yesterday afternoon as the Draken entered the Seaway. The crew waved and onlookers cheered as the lock filled with water. In a video on the ship's website, captain Bjorn Ahlander paid tribute to Seaway employees and pilots for their help. "The second pilot, Simon, he came with strawberries and did this for free. That's what I call friendship," said Ahlander.

The project is being financed by Norwegian businessman Sigurd Aase who wanted to build a Viking ship and hire a crew to sail it across the Atlantic.

With the Tallships visiting the Great Lakes again, it would be nice if there was a way of knowing just when each vessel will be passing Port Huron going North and again on their way back. Can someone set up a topic forum, just for that?
