Thought I'd read she was loading fines at AK Steel.

I read they loaded ore fines which would be used to make sinter feed for the blast furnaces.

As of 5 pm EST on 11-15-18 it looks like the Wilfred Sykes has just departed Duluth and is on its way to the Rouge River.

I'm guessing you meant she departed Toledo.

Anyone have additional information about what happened to the Sykes? She's been in Toledo for 6 days now. Seems rather long for only a minor incident.

Self-discharging bulk carrier Wilfred Sykes (IMO 5389554) allided with Sarnia’s Imperial Oil dock, Ontario, around dawn on November 7th. The vessel sustained damage to her hull. 1950-built, USA-flagged, 12,720 gt Wilfred Sykes is owned by Indiana Harbor Steamship care of manager Central Marine Logistics of Griffith, Indiana, USA. It is entered with Steamship Mutual (Smuab) (Americas Division) on behalf of Indiana Harbor Steamship Co LLC.

When was the last time that the Sykes was on the St.Clair River? I've been watching freighters on the St. Clair for just 14 years and don't ever recall of her being this far south-east.

In Dec. 2006 she carried a load of ore from Superior Wi to Lorain, OH. Not sure if she has been down that way since. Thats the last trip I am aware of.

I believe that was the last time it was down past upper Lake Huron. If i recall correctly, she carried one late season load to Lorain on the run the Ryerson was assigned to.

I'm the poster that posted about the Sykes hitting something while docking, I meant to say Sombra.

Appears the Sykes hit something while docking at Sarnia. Heading to Toledo (as of 9 am EST 11-8-18 it is about to enter port) for repairs.

The Sykes spent a very long time at the Sombra aggregates dock yesterday unloading a split load. When I saw her, the boom was hanging off to the side with nothing being unloaded. This was 4 hours after she arrived at around 9:00. I see she left just before midnight. Anyone know what the problem was?
When was the last time that she was down the St. Clair river?

AIS shows the Sykes heading to Sarnia, ONT. Anyone know what she's carrying? Has she ever carried cargo to Sarnia?

Could this, GOD forbid, mean that she was sold to one of the Canadian companies?

Fair point. I guess I was just having flashbacks to what happened last year with the Buffalo. One day she was carrying cargo, the next she was inexplicably heading to Sarnia.
