The island was originally called Goat Island because an old man kept a herd of goats there. During the 1950's it was taken over by the Sheboygan Outboard Club. If you google Sheboygan Goat Island you can read the text from the historical marker. There is also a link there to a Milwaukee Journal article from 1957 that tells about the change to Boat Island. Hope this information is helpful.

How long is the hull? I can think of a couple of possibilities.

Sheboygan River in Wisconsin

Unread post by Coalburner »

Due to heavy rains, the Sheboygan River is in flood stage and I noticed something yesterday.
I used to keep my boat at the Sheboygan Outboard Club upstream in the Sheboygan River and I parked it on an island that they own in the middle of the river accusable only by boat. They have water, sewer, and electricity out there.
Right now the island is completely submerged and remarkably looks like a sunken ship, almost perfect outline of a hull. Does anybody know anything about this? Could they have sunk an old ship to make this island?
