Could someone tell me if this Arthur M. Anderson is the same ship of the Edmund Fitzgerald era. If so, she looks really good for her age. I know the William Clay Ford has been scrapped so to speak.
I want to get photo's of all three ships and display them together. The Fitz will be a memorial and the two ships on either side will be a remembrance of two brave captains and their crews who went back out into the storm to see if they could find any survivors of the Fitz.

Same boat Corinne, but lengthened and converted to a self-unloader since then.

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
really? the great lakes trader? that would have been a sight to see. it would be a nice treat to see a GLF or ASC or interlake boat. but lower lakes and algoma have grand haven pretty well covered. doubt we will be seeing anyone other than those two companies unless demand called for it

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
It's been years since a Great Lakes Fleet vessel, or an assisting tug, has paid a visit here. The Barker has been here, so the Anderson should be able to negotiate the turn.

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
The Anderson is due Huron, OH at 0600 on 12 APR according to the Great Lakes Fleet site. There is a good view from the west bank of the river as she arrives or departs. Mike
Where would be the best port to see the Anderson?
Hi Dan. I've returned to the greater Detroit area some time ago and have to say that I have seen the Arthur Anderson passing by here many times. Sometimes they dock at, near, or in the Rouge River area. Sometimes they are just passing by on their way to ports like Toledo and beyond. Anyway, this can be a potential good observation point as can be the Boatnerd HQ in Port Huron for any of their down bound journeys. You might just want to keep an eye out for where they are going and track that with the vessel passages that are listed via what is posted on the site proper.

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
Yeah. I imagine the recreational boats would be a nightmare...
Specially in the peak summer months.

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
How do they manage the river, especially with as many recreational vessels that tie up and sometimes raft to one another along the sides? Do they require tug assistance to make the turns? I just can't ever remember seeing something that large go in there when I lived in the area.

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
Canadian 730-footers have unloaded in Grand Haven and I believe the Kaye E. Barker was there several years ago. She's the same length as the Anderson, no?

Re: Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
I believe that it's too long to make the turns in the river.

Arthur Anderson - Grand Haven?
This may be a silly question? But does the Arthur Anderson ever come to Grand Haven port? Or is it to big?
How can I find a schedule of boats that come to Grand Haven, Mi.
Thanks,
Dan
