Cliffs acquire Central Marine?

I believe there was also some variation of the Inland stack. Older photos of the Sykes and Ryerson show Inland spelled out across the diamond on the stacks, later being modified to just the diamond.

When the Edward L. Ryerson its stack logo included the word "INLAND" inside the red diamond. In the book, The Inland Steel Fleet there is a picture from the early 1960s of the Ryerson upbound at Mission Point with its stack in this configuration.

Just curious is all but, anyone know just how many stack logos those three have had in their history the Sykes, Ryerson and Block? They have had more stack changes throughout their careers that I can’t keep up with those changes anymore. I can’t even figure out the years that they had them and changed them? Would be a neat write up history as far as what stack logos they all had and when they were changed? Yes I am more than well aware of fleet history books that may have this info.

Just take a look through the fleet history photos. Obviously they had the Inland stacks, then the Sykes and Block had the Ispat/Inland stack logos from 1999-2005 I believe, then the Mittal black lettering and light blue band at the top. Finally, in 2008 came the current Arcelor Mittal logo.

Regardless of how this situation will impact CML, I can't see how this would be good news for the future of the Ryerson.

At the very least I would expect to see the ArcelorMittal logo coming off the stacks of the Central Marine boats this winter (unless Mittal retains some kind of interest in them).

I'm curious why you believe CML vessels will be with another fleet next year. Constant speculation like this is disrespectful of the CML fleets crews and futures.

Perhaps CML should release a statement (if they haven't already) to clear these rumors and speculations. I hope they continue to operate the same all of my friends who work for them, love the company.

JT, if you check back to when this deal was completed, the Cliffs purchase of Arcellor Mittal USA accesses, you will see that Central Marine Logistics was not included in the purchase. In the spring, there is a good chance that the CML vessels may be with another fleet. But that is to be determined. In the mean time, those who sail on these vessels wonder what the future holds. Have a good New Year!

Central Marine is the operator of the fleet, which is owned by Indiana Harbor Steamship Company. Indiana Harbor Steamship is a separate entity from ArcelorMittal or Cliffs, but the vessels are chartered to ArcelorMittal/Cliffs to transport raw materials to their plants.
