I heard Frank speak about the Bradley outside of St. Paul a number of years ago. I talked to him afterwards. That was a "sea"-change experience he had out on Lake Michigan those many years ago. Condolences to those who knew him well and his family.

I know that this has been mentioned and talked about before here as far as whenever the Carl D. Bradley sinking is brought up. Now with the passing of Frank Mays I thought this would be a good time as well to remind many that aren’t aware of the video November Reqiuem that talks about the Bradley. If anyone has not yet seen November Reqiuem or has it in their DVD collection, please do yourself a favor and get this DVD video as you won’t be sorry guaranteed! You can get it online as far as I know from I think either one of the libraries or museums up in the Rogers City area. Might have to do your own search to try and find the DVD video. Believe me when I say, that I get all choked up whenever I watch this video as it’s heartbreaking to see and hear the families tell their stories. I won’t go to great length or details other than just to say if anyone hasn’t seen November Reqiuem then please get it soon and before it’s gone as you’ll enjoy it. This is one of the best DVD videos on the Bradley’s sinking and her story. You’ll cry and laugh at the stories and feel the pain, sorrow and suffering the families all went through along with the town of Rogers City. Definitely a great video to watch!

Just read the sad news on the News Page of the passing of Frank Mays of the steamer Carl D. Bradley. Although I never had the chance nor did I ever have the opportunity to meet him and hear his story of survival from that horrible and terrible night, I have all of his books though in my collection and many DVD videos as well of the Bradley tragedy and of her sinking as well. Frank has now been called home and has been reunited with his Bradley crewmates as well. It is now hard to imagine and also believe that with Frank Mays' passing and then a few short years ago now with Dennis Hale of the Daniel J. Morrell, we are now left with No survivors left to tell their stories of survival and heroism! It is only now by books and videos that we learn and understand what truly happened to those men and their ships and crew on those terrible nights while at sea. Although I never got to meet Frank Mays, at least I am fortunate and thankful to have met Dennis Hale. My condolences to Frank and his family and friends. He will be missed and also never forgotten nor will his crewmates from the Bradley as well. God Bless you Frank and 3 Long and 2 Short and Fair Winds and Calm Seas.
