Re: Herbert C Jackson
Seems to me like the jackson has a lot of stern thruster issues, she has been in drydock at fraser a few other times for that same issue. Also fraser shipyard did the engine replacement on the jackson several years ago so it doesn’t seem like interlake or fraser has any problems with doing work on this ship as they have done so many times over the last 6 to 8 years.

Re: Herbert C Jackson
This is a completely false reason why the Jackson is in Toledo. She was at Fraser a few weeks ago for stern thruster issues which the yard handled perfectly. She is in Toledo for her current repair, completely unrelated to the stern thruster, because it better aligned with her trade route.polishDawg wrote: July 9, 2023, 1:12 pm Fraser is skittish with working with certain ships and the engineering teams. Years ago when removing the blades off another boat, possibly hcj but might have been another, the chief disengaged the clutch when the wheel was out of balance and the remaining blade swung around due to gravity and wrecked the scaffolding and endangered the shipyard workers. I heard that the chief wasn't reprimanded and the shipyard refused to do any work with him in charge of the ship.
Same type of thing exists between Fraser/asc-gatx/Hallett. A number of years ago the McCarthy grounded and sunk at the Hallett 8 dock due to a mixup between all involved. The wJM backed over a rock and flooded the engine room, and once the lawyers got involved Fraser wasn't allowed on Hallett property as they were blamed for changing the mooring instructions. If you notice anytime Fraser has to work on a boat at a Hallett dock you see their trucks only at Port terminal or fuel dock if the ship isn't at their own yard - but never see trucks on Hallett ground. They'll take a Fraser tug over I that's where they have to go.
I heard the same kind of thing happened after that chief toppled their scaffolding. He can be in charge for things that don't involve the rudder or wheel, but when it comes to that they won't go to Fraser, Hense iron dock in toledo.

Re: Herbert C Jackson
She was just in drydock in superior 3 weeks ago, thought they would’ve fixed the problems there unless these are different issues.

Shaft seal bearing got smoked and discovered a few critical maintenance items weren't getting done and had to be quickly resolved. Purvis and fosters is coming down to assist with getting the routine maintenance done and do some training.
