with ships being of different width ,the length of the boom can very on how far of reach it has for unloading. 265 feet vs. 280 feet

Thanks for that info Pat very much appreciated and great job finding that stuff out for me then, again Thank You for that. However then at 265 feet in length, that still don’t beat the Gott’s boom length then at 280 feet in length! So it appears I may be correct on my info regarding the Gott having the longest unloading boom of any vessel on the lakes for now.

Thanks my friend Bob. Indeed it was the answer I was looking for. So, the Gott then holds at least two records. One, most powerful ship on the Great Lakes. Second, for having the longest unloading boom of any ship on the lakes depending of course on the boom length of the VanEnkevort tugs and barge units today. As for my health, YES Bob I got great news this week from my homecare nurses that I will share another time on the Regional Page. All signs on my health at least physical are doing good! My mental side however though, has taken quite a lot of steps backward as one might expect. I’ve been through so much and endured and weathered so much. Often I wonder and ask myself, how I manage and to keep up? It’s been a struggle and a battle for me. One I’m determined somehow to win! Yes Denny I believe you are correct, the gott has the longest unloading boom on the Great Lakes. I’m not sure how long the unloading booms are on the van eckenvort atb’s. Hope this gives you the answer you were looking for. Take care my friend and may you be blessed with good health.

Just curious, asking and wondering is all. In watching the Edwin H. Gott today at the Soo Locks, I thought I once read and heard that the Gott has the longest unloading boom of any vessel on the Great Lakes if I’m correct? The length of her boom is 280 feet long and that puts it 15 feet longer than the Mesabi Miner which has a 265 foot long unloading boom this I believe IMO at least, the Miner held the title as longest unloading boom of any Great Lakes Vessel until the Gott received its updated boom during the winter lay up of 1995/96 at BayShip in Sturgeon Bay. I think a few of the VanEnkevort Barges may also have a boom length maybe of 280 feet in length I’m not 100% sure of that? So, am I seeing and reading all of my information right and do I have the right facts to back up what I am thinking and talking about or else am I wrong yet again on my facts? Any help and or info anyone has and can share on this would be appreciated. Thanks so very much in advance.
