If it’s been “years” since they last took a close look at the Valor, then taking another look is a valid exercise. Systems degrade over time, especially when not being used.
Inspecting the Valor? Unlikely. The vessel has been previously inspected likely years earlier. Management knows exactly what to do and would execute the plan when it was deemed a worthy project.
Given the current unknown status of the Cuyahoga and the Michipicoten, I can’t imagine they are in a hurry to scrap the Valor. If the Valor didn’t have a good hull, she would have been sent to the scrapyard a while ago. If anything, they may be inspecting the Valor for a possible re-powering and return to service.
