Barge Huron Spirit was brought in Port Colborne and is siting beside MRC's yard. Unknown if it is being scrapped there or just there for the winter

Interesting question as to who else other than the Cuyahoga or Michipicoten would be eventually scrapped at MRC in Port Colborne? I would guess and say Roger Blough at some point, Cason J. Callaway, Barge McKee Sons and American Valor now known as Valo if LLT decides to someday get rid of her. Another I thought that was supposed to go to MRC was the CTC #1 a storage ship for years in South Chicago. She was built in the 1940s and is in the “Maritime Class” as far as vessel class. She hasn’t sailed in many years and now is a cement storage vessel in Chicago. I hate to bring bad news to all the boatnerds out there but a few more to add, maybe someday the Ryerson, Sherwin and IF both the Anderson and Clarke are headed to long-term layup then perhaps someday we might see them go as well. Sadly as has been mentioned by a few others in different posts, we’re coming to the end of an era as far as the classic 1950s built ships and even the 1,000 footers are not exempt from the list either! Some have said and offered their opinions that they think that someday we could see between only 20-30 ships either in the US fleet or combined as far as the US and Canadian fleets. We will have to wait and see how this all develops then.

What is there to scrap at port colborne? Ss norisle, anything else? What's up next? I'm guessing Cuyahoga and/or michipocoten. Some in port colborne might have an insight. Happy robie burnes day!
