This description provided above sounds suspiciously like the grounding of the bulker Maccoa. It grounded Dec 24, 2024 near Verchères and was released on January 7, 2025. The McAsphalt Advantage suffered a small fire in Hamilton on December 19, 2024, but I can find no on-line sources that state that it lost power and grounded. The Boatnerd layup list shows that it laid up in Montreal on January 4, 2025.

No idea why it is still tied up, but it isn't that unusual for new vessels to have teething problems.

Does anyone know what is happening with the McAsphalt Advantage? She came to the lakes and laid up at Hamilton. Then before winter she moved to Montreal and to my knowledge, it has not moved since. Are they having problems with her?
