Re: Presque isle
The tug remains with the barge at the CSX docks. It hasn’t gone anywhere.

Re: Presque isle
I am still looking for any answers, help or information on my question as dad as the location of the tug Presque Isle. The barge I know is in Toledo at CSX Docks but where is the tug at? I was looking at pat Port Reports in early August and read the tug was at Ironhead Marine in Toledo. Is this true and when were they put into the drydock there? Anyone that can help and provide information on this as far as any Toledo boatnerds or ones such as these Mr. Link or Mr. Lafferty who both are great with their information is very much appreciated. Thanks so very much in advance for any information.

Re: Presque isle
So, if I am correct it appears the barge portion of the Presque Isle is sitting in Toledo at the CSX #2 or 3 Dock? Then where is the tug portion at? Did they go to Erie and if so when did that happen? On Marine Traffic, it lists when they arrived in Toledo yet the tug there’s nothing listed! I’m looking for any help and information on the location of the tug and when it arrived at its current location. Thanks for any help and information anyone may have on this.

Re: Presque isle
If the presque isle was waiting for the drydock at port weller for repairs wouldn’t they have tied up in Erie instead of Toledo? They would be much closer to port weller from Erie of course.

Re: Presque isle
If I recall, the only dock the tug can use in the Lakes is Port Weller, so they may be sidelined for a bit if the dock is busy, which it usually is with CCG icebreakers in the summer

Re: Presque isle
Are they going to repair it this season? It appears they parked it in Toledo. You would assume they were contracted to haul around 2 million tons of taconite for the season. Who picks up that cargo to haul?

Re: Presque isle
The presque isle has had a rough shipping season this year, something happened when passing copper harbor Michigan earlier this summer loaded and heading towards a lower lake port and they had to turn around and go back to Duluth and unload some of their cargo into the great republic. They spent 2 or 3 weeks in Erie Pennsylvania for some sort of repairs after they had unloaded in nanticoke. And now the issue of missing the turn at Johnson’s point on the st Mary’s river and running aground. Things always happen in 3’s so hopefully the crew and ship will have calm waters and safe travels from here on out!

Re: Presque isle
As the Presque Isle passes Harsens Island in the St. Clair River. It appears as though the water is churning behind their port side prop only. Presuming it has both port and starboard props.

Re: Presque isle
If the damage is limited to just the tug section, they might leave the barge section in Toledo. It might also give non-essential crew members a place to disembark before they head to Erie. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

I see the ais on the presque isle is showing a Toledo destination, wouldn’t they be heading for Erie to drydock. What are they going to be able to do at Toledo there’s no drydock large enough there.
