Our tow is a little over 120 miles at sea off the Baja coast. Ocean Tower is on a course of 322 deg. She is making 7.3 knots.
Tonight the sea is very calm with “ripples” of just under 2 feet. This is likely why they are making such good speed. The wind is NW at 6 mph. The seas are running out of the SE. Skies are cloudy. The temperature is about 70 deg. and will drop into the mid 60’s overnight. Once again the crew must be feeling like they’re on a cruise. The port of San Diego has Ocean Tower on their “Vessels Expected” list for noon tomorrow.

The Ocean Tower has made about 120 miles since Ocos, Guatemala referent point last night.
Currently they are making 7-8 knots approaching SAN Pedro Pochula, Mexico. Acapulco, Mexico is a little under 200 miles distant. Seas are quite calm compared to 2-3 days ago. Today there is a gentle swell of a bit under 3’. Water temp. is just under 80 deg. The wind is blowing about 5 knots with gusts to 8 knots. I wonder if they feel as if they are having a terrific cruise with these conditions.

To the guest who asked why Ocean Tower appears to have shown no movement. Was weather a factor?
YES!! Pretty much since Sunday past gale warnings have been posted. A giant shift in atmospheric pressure systems caused winds to spike until the high 20 and even low 30 knot range. Wind like that on open water makes for waves. Seas reached the 15 - low 20’ heights...! Not fun!
On the ais/track map; the tow is about 80.- 100 miles sbreast of Ocos, Guatemala. They are making 7-8 knots on a NE heading.
The air temp is in the mid’70’s. Water temp. yesterday; I saw 83 deg. Afternoon air was 93 deg. Humidity in the 80% area. Let’s hope the a/c is in good shape on Ocean Tower. Youtube has some video on deep sea long distance tugging if you’re keen to see how this is done.
Thanks for a great update!

Hi Steamboater 66 / It looks like Ocean Tower hasn’t moved much. You think the weather is a factor?
