USGC Bristol Bay 102 continued on 3/27 to attempt to cut a channel out of Buffalo Harbor, so the Tug Victory and her barge Maumee could leave their winter quarters at the General Mills - Frontier Elevator on the City Ship Canal.
Bristol Bay is encountering brash ice one to two feet thick, which refreezes over night with temperatures still in the 25F range.
Hopefully the channel can be cut and kept open for a Saturday sortie by the Victory.

USCG Bristol Bay 102 is docked at the Buffalo River dock across from USCG station Buffalo.

Today, 3/27 she will escort the Victory/Maumee combo from the Frontier Elevator/General Mills, where Victory has wintered and out into Lake Erie.

USCG reports 5 to 10 miles of brash ice off the Buffalo Harbor. Bristol Bay has spent the last three days clearing a channel through the field.
