Re: Foggy night…
We've heard a few horns here in DeTour during the last few days, but many vessels seem to find sound signals unnecessary,
which surprises me as I cannot see them passing from a few hundred feet away.

Fortunately living in Mackinaw City next to the bridge I get to hear it's fog signal along with the freighters passing thru the Straits and really enjoy the foggy days and nights!

Foggy night…
00:13 EDT Friday, September 4/26
Just finished a tour around the webcams. It’ll be a foggy night looking from the wheelhouses tonight. Particularly noticeable up and down from the Soo, through Huron, and up and down the rivers. I am,in my memory, hearing the foghorns from nights like this back in the ‘60’s alongside in Sarnia loading. Looked pretty thick out there; but, electronics….seems to be the answer anywhere you turn these days! Miss those whistles and horns!
