I can't speak for the responsibility of the parties, but I can say there was a pilot aboard. Pilots must be aboard the salties during river transits, & on other vessels with officers who have insufficient sea time in the rivers. Further, accounts of the incident reference the captain of the vessel & the pilot determining to run the vessel aground to get her out of the shipping channel.edmertz wrote:Did the Sidsel Knutsen have a pilot aboard when she grounded on the Saint Clair river today ? She lost power and dropped anchor. Similar to Agawa Canyon a couple of years ago at Algonac, who, I think, lost steering.
