The following description is from the Fednav site.

Steve

Built in 2006, Umiak I, a 31,500-tonne icebreaking bulk carrier, the most powerful ever of its kind, is employed in moving 360,000 tonnes of nickel concentrates a year in 12 voyages from Inco Ltd.'s Voisey's Bay mine in northern Labrador to its smelters in Sudbury, Ontario and Thompson, Manitoba.

1 Yes, both are owned by Fednav out of Montreal.
2. Yes, both are rated for ASPPR AC4 eq (I have no idea what that means)
3. The Arctic was built as part of a consortium between Upper lakes shipping, FedNav, and the Canadian Government. I'm pretty sure fednav bought them out however.
4. The Umiak I is on route to Quebec City to unload nickel concentrate that it loaded in baffin mines(?). It is on a straight route from Quebec City to Mines in the Arctic and return trip. It takes fuel, and mining supplies up, and Nickel concentrate down.

If you are interested and have an hour to kill you can click on this link: http://watch.discoverychannel.ca/#clip524726
it's a direct link to see the Umiak I on discovery channel's "Mighty Ships".
