Re: Canadian Provider and Algolake
it's a whole different ballgame running a boat downbound, loaded, in following seas, with dying winds vs. going upbound, light into developing gale force winds and head-on seas.

It looked like the James Barker traveled through in spite of the weather.

Doesn't anyone run in rough weather anymore? Is this a response to the age of the boats? Thanks.

The Buffalo and the St. Clair have joined the group. It also appears that the Shelley is headed that way too.charlie - soo wrote:Weather. Most boats anchor because of weather. Was the wind blowing hard that day? Maybe you could find an answer in the Soo Vessel Passage section of this website.

At the time there were gale warnings posted for most of Lake Superior: west / northwesterly winds and 12 - 16+ foot waves on the central/eastern lake.

Why are the Canadian Provider and Algolake anchored in Whitefish Bay?
