Current location of the Tony MacKay/Fraser?

Re: Current location of the Tony MacKay/Fraser?
Tony McKay, Vigilant I and deadship HMCS Fraser passed under the 1000 Islands Bridge at 1735 Thursday. Moving quite slowly, with the tow noticeably fishtailing and the tugs working to keep her in line.
Maritime Trader coming up very slowly about 1.5 miles behind, presumably waiting for her chance to overtake and pass in the open waters above Bartlett Point (Clayton, NY).
No image or info on Seaway site. Assuming arrival at CIP Cape Vincent about 2100 this evening, no overnight stop and a long crossing of the Lake (normally about 12 hours), my guess is that the tow will be at Port Weller piers in early evening Friday.
Photos will post shortly.

I spoke to a crewman on the Tony Mackay via phone this morning. They are bound for IMS in Port Colborne. Port Maitland no longer scraps ships.Guest wrote:Port Maitland was what the pilot on board the Tony Mackay told the Seaway at C I P 2, also Tony Mackay's Destination says the same, The Vigilant 1 says Port Colborne, thats where she will break off, if she goes that far.Southdown wrote:IMS Port Colborne.

Leo, she is in your area at this moment, presently at Eisenhower lock.Leo wrote:Any idea when she'll be in the vicinity of Eisenhower Lock?
For some reason she's not showing up on the Seaway's online map. The Eisenhower Lock vessel arrival tape says 4:40AM. Is she on track so far to arrive on time?
Hoping to see her although it's going to be less then ideal to get pictures.

Re: Current location of the Tony MacKay/Fraser?
The tow of the ex DDH HMCS Fraser 233, has been delayed due to engine problems on the Tony Mackay, there was an indication she was suppose to leave last night at 2100 according to the Montreal Harbor pilot on board, that did not materialise and the trio is still at sec 50 Port of Montreal. I am keeping an eye on happenings. I will report as soon as they are mobile once more.Leo wrote:Hoping to get some pictures of this retired destroyer as it comes through the Seaway. Does anyone know it's current location?
Any guesses on an approximate time when it's going to arrive in the Seaway?
Thanks

The tow did not get past Montreal Tony Mackay and combo docked at sec 50 on her way to the Seaway. The group is still there at this time.Barry wrote:Tow has returned to Montreal with engine problems - no etd for resumption

Re: Current location of the Tony MacKay/Fraser?
When the tow left Halifax, the pilot on board the tug gave Port Maitland as the destination.
No gaurantee that this was correct, but it was the destination entered in to the reporting system.

Re: Current location of the Tony MacKay/Fraser?
The news story had Fraser listed as heading to Port Maitland for scrap, is that correct, or will she head to IMS in Port Colborne?
