The tow apparently has passed IMS Port Colborne and heading for Port Maitland, Boatnerd News reports the Fraser going to Port Maitland for scrapping.

Apparently the tow has passed Port Colborne and heading to Port Maitland, News Channel has Fraser going to Port Maitland as well.TWilush wrote:The news story had Fraser listed as heading to Port Maitland for scrap, is that correct, or will she head to IMS in Port Colborne?

I just saw the Ecosse her dest. says Port Colborne, it was Port Dover earlier,I guess thats the plan, there was some talk about a group of people wanting to save this vessel as it supposedly is the last of her kind.

Tug Ecosse is heading out towards the Tony Mackay and tow, Ecosse will become the stern tog on the tow.1425Guest wrote:Guest wrote:Port Maitland was what the pilot on board the Tony Mackay told the Seaway at C I P 2, also Tony Mackay's Destination says the same, The Vigilant 1 says Port Colborne, thats where she will break off, if she goes that far.Southdown wrote:IMS Port Colborne.

The tug Sirocco towing Agawa Canyon have pilots called for 0600 Sept 18, the Vigilant 1 will be the stern tug as far as Les Escoumin or Pointe au Pic.Guest wrote:Guest wrote:Port Maitland was what the pilot on board the Tony Mackay told the Seaway at C I P 2, also Tony Mackay's Destination says the same, The Vigilant 1 says Port Colborne, thats where she will break off, if she goes that far.Southdown wrote:IMS Port Colborne.

IMS does use Port Maitland from time to time to hold vessels. The Hannah barge 6301 was moved there this past summer from Port COlborne. Not sure if she is still there.

Re: Current location of the Tony MacKay/Fraser?
She was quite a bit later then the projected 4:40AM ETA that the Eisenhower Lock posted in the afternoon, but I was able to watch the Atlantic Erie lock downbound to kill some time waiting for her.
Followed the tow from the exit of Snell Lock to Massena with part of the trip in decent light for pictures. Sent in 8 photots to the news channel. Hopefully they will be posted soon.
Thanks for all the updates. It helped a ton to have some idea of where she was and when I could expect her. Doubt I'd of seen her without your help.

Thats a good question, I suppose its something to do with a Naval vessel wheter its an ex or not. In any case the tow just dropped the pilot at Cape Vincent and is proceeding across Lake Ontario. time at 2035hrs.jimmy wrote:why would the st lawrence seaway not show the present location of the towing tug?

I spoke to a crewman on the Tony Mackay via phone this morning. They are bound for IMS in Port Colborne. Port Maitland no longer scraps ships.[/quote] Why did the Pilot say Port Maitland Ontario on Lake Erie I heard it myself on the VHF, The Tony Mackay info says Port Maitland, Ontario, why did the crew not inform the pilot of its final dest was not Port Maitland but Port Colborne? Halifax also reported the same final destination, you would have thought they would have known befor the tow left Halifax that Port Maitland did not scrap ships any longer, its a wait and see game now. Or is it a mystery.
