Only one load of salt expected in October unless winter strikes early, hard and fast. If this happens, another load in December would be likely. Light winter last year held salt usage down.
Another two or three shiploads of grain expected before tieup.

Re: Georgian Bay area
Thank you for that info and very interesting. I've spent most of my time in mining towns but I've never before heard of trap rock. I've been in Owen Sound for 12 years and this is the first load ever for this commodity while I've been here. I've been looking for the two or three loads of salt we usually get in the spring and they are not yet here. Truck loads of grain ariving at the elevators this fall have been very sporadic. It would appear that things are changing. It would seem that the next excitement will be that equipment to be shipped from Bruce Nuclear to Sweden.

Re: Georgian Bay area
Trap rock is often specified for the provincial highways due to its properties of not getting polished and reduces slippage. It is shipped into Port Colborne now and then as the local limestone does not have this property and does not meet some provincial requirements

Re: Georgian Bay area
Trap rock is a type of rock, usually gound fairly fine, for use as foundations and road or walkways. It compacts very nicely, and "stays put." It is mined near Bruce Mines, Ontario, and loaded there.

Are there any vessels heading to Midland, ON or Parry Sound, ON in the near future? If so, when?
