“This is the future of shipping in the Great Lakes and we are very proud she is making the Port of Windsor her first discharge port.”
The vessel departed shortly before 11 p.m. and is heading to Duluth to load its first cargo.
She has just entered the St. Clair River up bound at 12:45 AM CST.
I noticed a whistle trumpet on the bow and also on the pilot house of the Baie St. Paul. Do all cabins-aft boats have this feature? Are they both blown at the same time?
How come these Chinese built ships have markings on the hull to indicate where the cargo holds begin and end? I think I've noticed it on both the Algoma Mariner and the Algobay.
Baie St. Paul now tentatively on the schedule for the CN dock in Duluth, arriving in port late evening on December 20th. There are a number of vessels scheduled to load at CN in Duluth and CN's Two Harbors docks that day, so her loading might end up delayed until the 21st. It also wouldn't be a total surprise to see her load at BN in Superior instead if dock congestion on the Minnesota side is heavy enough.

Good idea - I've sent it and a few others.
I had a video too, but unfortunately it cuts out just before the salute. That forward whistle on the BSP has to be one of the loudest I've heard on the lakes!
Can anyone tell me the names of the captain and first mate on the Baie St. Paul? I received a one-long-two-short salute and a wave from one of them (I believe it was the captain) when she passed my house near the 1000 Islands Bridge Sunday at 1030. It may be the same pair as were on the CSL Niagara when I rode on her back in September. I will post some shots of her in the Seaway near the TI Bridge shortly. TIA.
Perhaps maybe her ETA for Windsor might be a stop for fuel at the Sterling Fuel Dock in Windsor? As far as her loading salt though for Duluth, I doubt this would happen as I haven't heard of any CSL boats doing this run. Usually Algoma has that contract not saying that it isn't possible though that the Baie St. Paul could do that. She is not showing up yet on Duluth Shipping News' website as well.
Denny wrote:One of her AIS reports shows her as arriving in Windsor, Ontario on December 18 at 0740 hours. I don't know if this is accurate and it could even be an error. There have been reports also that have said that she is bound for Superior, Wisconsin as well. So I guess we'll just have to wait and see where she goes to next.
Maybe salt to Duluth-Superior and then ore down to Nanticoke. I've heard there's three loads of ore to Nanticoke and then lay-up.
