The Buffalo had called Sector Soo Coast Guard around 6:30p on 12/27 to report smoke. They found no fire but smoke. USCG had them goto anchor. Buffalo's Capt reported she had no bow thrusters and requested Cuyahoga (who was also downbound behind) to check down to give Buffalo about a half hour lead time to manuver to the anchorage just using propulsion. Also slowed down was the Callaway.
