The blough has deviled stone from some port to duluth before, im not to knowledgeable on that subject, theirs a pic. of it under her fleet photo gallery, and possible some info on there? but thats the only one i know about.

1000 Footers and Backhauls?
I just watched all of the great videos posted in the "Self Unloaders" thread earlier. Some good stuff posted there in case anyone was wondering or hasn't visited that offering here yet. A worthy thread to visit with great video links! Thanks for everyone that has offered some good viewing there.
Watching that got me wondering, and heaven help me why I thought of this... has there been a 1000 footer that has back-hauled product to some other port?
I know most of the time 1000 footers load and deliver to wherever they must go. They usually return to their needed next loading port in ballast to fill-up again, only to head off to that next (or perhaps, too familiar) port again to unload.
But has there been the occasion where they might load some product in the lower lakes to back-haul to a Superior location, and/or an upper port in Lake Huron or Lake Michigan? Or maybe received an upper lakes product like stone for a a Lake Superior port?
If so, what product and where? All I can imagine would be stone, coal, and heaven forbid, salt, as a desired commodity.
Of the 1000 footers, I would include the Roger Blough since she's an "almost", even though she has a limited unloading boom system for basically shoreline hoppers only.
I would be delighted to hear from others here who have stories or any info about this.
