for a medium speed engines 14kts in a good clip..now my dad was a C/E on the Oakglen AKA T. R. McLagan he told me that they got 18kts out her racin for the soo..she was steam turbine..

These vessels (and their engines) are brand new, there will be a break in period before full throttle operation.

According to CSL, Thunder Bay and Whitefish are proceeding at 13-14 knots. That seems slow for an empty ship on its way to the lakes to start earning revenue. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks for posting the heads up information whitefishbay2 as we appreciate it very much. Please keep us all updated and informed of your passage and transit especially at the Panama Canal. I am hoping to see and catch your ship on the web camera from there. Also, do you know when the Thunder Bay is expected to arrive at the Panama Canal? They took off from China about two weeks after the Thunder Bay did so I expect them to be about two weeks or so behind the Whitefish Bay if I am correct? Thank You.

The whitefish bay is currently crossing the pacific ocean we just passed the marshall Islands and Gilbert islands yesterday and we should be in panama on the 26-27 june..... see you all soon...

According to a source Thunder Bay got underway this morning.

From CSL's website and Trillium Tracker, Whitefish Bay departed from the Philippines and is now back underway once again and heading across the Pacific Ocean. Anyone right now have any ideas or ETA's for the Panama Canal? I would like to try and catch her on the Panama Canal cameras while going through there if I can. Also, will the Thunder Bay be leaving from China sometime this week also and if so when? Any information is appreciated. Thank You very much in advance.

Yes, you are correct regarding her sea trials as the story is now on the boatnerd news page regarding the Baie Comeau and her sea trials.

Baie Comeau has shown up on the AIS many times so I assume she is already launched. I think she has also done her first set of sea trials.

What is the story on the Baie Comeau? I have not seen or heard much about her and was wondering how far along they are with the construction and launching of her? Will she enter service by the end of 2013 and be in the Great Lakes/Seaway system along with North America? Any information is appreciated. Thank You.

Thunder Bay had a mechanical problem and should depart Wednesday.

If I am not mistaken, the Thunder Bay was launched and completed sea trials before the Whitefish Bay. Why is it that the Whitefish Bay is headed for North America first? Are they having issues with the Thunder Bay?
