St Clair River traffic at St. Clair

I would like to add to my post below if I may that is, two more boats that I have "never ever seen at the Soo in all the times I have been up there are both the Buffalo along with Sam Laud." However, these two ships were not always regular callers going through the Soo as they used to work the lower lakes trades and then this time of year they would start to go up to Lake Superior. Now they are regular visitors through the Soo but, never seen either of them at the Soo believe it or not!

Okay Bookworm so you missed a few of them overnight that came through that you wanted to see, bummer huh? Didn't you once tell me earlier in the year about tracking the boats on AIS as far as the ones that I missed and wanted to see? Granted you can track most all the boats on the AIS but, if they go through at night or else early in the morning then that doesn't help when it comes to trying to see them. Take for instance two from CSL that I have never seen at the Soo the Atlantic Huron and Paul Martin. Both of these I have never seen up there not even once and I also have never seen either of them at the Welland but, I have seen both out on the St. Clair River. So, go figure as to why and how I end up always missing them at the Soo? The Atlantic Huron for one is usually busy on the East Coast of Canada but sometimes will come in here and that may be a reason I never get to see it at the Soo!

Well, they did it again...ships/boats/vessels I hoped to photograph went by in the overnight hours! This time it was the Algoma Equinox, PRT, St. Clair, and Walter J. McCarthy, Jr. A friend who lives on the river said McCarthy had a lovely coat of ice on the bow as it headed to it's destination yesterday.

Ah, Great Photos once again Bookworm and a nice set of photos too with the Christmas decorations in St. Clair as well. I always love to see that every year but, just wish I didn't live so far from it. Nice to hear that you got a salute from the Clarke as she is one of my favorites and a classic as well. I was lucky last week as I got my favorite the Paul R. Tregurtha to give me a salute there as well and got photos of her and the Christmas decorations also. Will send to boatnerd news someday when I get time so that you and everyone can see them. Keep up the good on your photos there Bookworm and Happy Holidays as well. Stay Safe & Warm!
