I to sailed with Captain Kinnear on the Eastern Shell as 4th and 3rd engineer back in the early to mid 80's. He was always a gentleman.

Thanks Russ I think maybe Shell Oil sent the Lakeshell3 to trade out of Montreal and the Easternshell went back to the lakes since he lived in Sarina that's probably why he went back to the Easternshell also I was talking on the phone with his wife after he had passed she said there were alot of stairs to climb on the Lakeshell and his knees were giving him trouble. When I sailed with him he was a great Captain and ship handler.

A D. L. Kinnear was captain of the Eastern Shell in 1970, 1971, and 1972 and again in 1982, 1983, and 1984. In between 1972 and 1982, he was Captain of the Lakeshell.

Thanks to you Skip Gilham re post on Easternshell I was wondering how much longer she would last I was a wheelsman aboard her for 3.5 years back in the late 60's and early 70's I have fond memories of those years. I enjoy reading your posts. Thanks again.
