FYI, as of 2 pm Sunday the tug Everlast (and I assume her barge Norman McLeod) are northbound in the St. Clair Cutoff Channel, abreast of Seaway Island, headed to Sarnia.

Glad to be able to bring passing river traffic to ship/boat/vessel "Nerds". Looks like Everlast & Norman McLeod, CCGS Samuel Risley & USCG Bristol Bay are fighting to get from Lake St. Clair into the St. Clair River System at the moment (12:15), but they're barely crawling, so doubt they can make it this far while skies are light.

I agree with Dan's comments as those are indeed great photos you took on the St. Clair River Bookworm. As Dan said as well I am also glad to hear and see that you were able to get out and about to photograph some of the scenery and traffic. I have not been up to the river since December 7 and usually don't make it up until March just before Spring Fit-Out. Last year I didn't make it as we had too much snow last year and who knows about this winter with all the snow? I also agree with Dan's comments about this winter and all the cold temperatures. Add me to the list as I am also ready for Spring as well. They just said on the Detroit News stations today that we are now up over 70 inches of snow so far for this winter. It sure has been one crazy winter. Should be fun in the Spring with all this ice and the breakers being busy also!

Great pictures as always Bookworm. Glad that you were able to get out to the river on a rare sunny day this time of year and also had the chance to see some activity on the river. This is the most brutal winter I've ever seen with all the sub zero temperatures for days and weeks. If the cold stays this way going into the new shipping season, should make for some great photo opportunities with the boats traveling in convoys in the ice with the ice breakers assisting. I'm ready for spring. The local weatherman said the other day that the meteorological winter ends February 28, so spring can't be to far off. Didn't expect to see river traffic this long after the season closed but I couldn't resist getting out in the sunshine and clear skies to photograph the action!
