I would like to mention the SS Meteor, the last whaleback ship,
launched as Frank Rockefeller. 5 owners, 3 names, sailed in ore, sand, grain, auto and petroleum trade, one of the most photographed vessel on Great Lakes.
Also would have to agree with the other post on the st. mary's challenger.

As a beginner, assisting with a fun project, I wonder if someone can help provide me with what they might think is a good list of 25 Great Lakes ore boats/freighters? I'm looking for a mixed bag of shipwrecks, "famous", favorites, retired and even ones in use today. The Fitz, Morelle (sp), Arthur M. Anderson, Valley Camp are ones I have so far. A comprehensive list would greatly help our starting point to search out fun information on these boats.
