We too would like to extend our best wishes to you Skip for a speedy recovery. Skip and I have been friends for over 4 decades and I have always found a person keen to share his knowledge and informatoin when asked to do so. We also hosted Welland Canal Diary some time after Bill moved on and are indebted for all the info we received relating to the ships and their histories. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Carol and the entire family.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you for your return to health.

Skip has been a mentor and guide to me in Great Lakes shipping history. His books started my interest in lake ships back in early September 1975, and inadvertenly caused my interest in meteorology. He has provided information for two articles I wrote for the Toronto Marine Historical Society in the 90s.
I wish Skip a speedy recovery in his illness, and he and his family are in my thoughts.

I have known Skip since the 60s when I started doing daily reports on CKTB radio in St. Catharines on ship locations in the Welland Canal. Skip has always been both a friend and a valuable source of information. He also provided me with various bits of memorablia from ships my Dad captained. For instance if I'm wondering how long it takes to go from point A to point B either on the Great Lakes or as far east as Sept Iles I could check Dad's log books from Black Bay and figure out the time.
Soldier on Skip. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Carol, and the family.

Skip has been a friend of me and my family for 40+ years. Every book he wrote that used photo's from my late fathers collection, he kindly sent me a complimentary copy. I proudly have over 30 of his fine volumes.
His ability to cover every type of boat from tug to Passenger ship from Anticosti IsLand to Duluth has always amazed me.
Skip is in a real fight right now and he and his family need our fervent prayers and support.

I too wish Mr. Gillham a speedy recovery. I have enjoyed his books since a youngster growing up during the early 1980s and eagerly awaited his weekly "Ships That Ply The Lakes" column in the Sunday edition Port Huron Times Herald, which I cut out and have to this day.
