Mother Nature "treated" the St. Clair River towns with sunshine, clouds, snow, and snow pellets in no particular order, all day! Ship traffic was minimal, but I photographed a few.

The sun finally paid us a welcome visit, but a snappy wind kept the warmth away.

Morning traffic on the St. Clair River interspersed with clouds and sun.

Snow showers on-and-off through the day, but nothing measurable.

Per the Port Report for December 2nd. Palmerton was renamed Caroline while in Sarnia. Her new name is visible in the posted photo.

St. Clair River traffic was minimal, but there were a few at dock along the way.

You're welcome, Doug. I'm always delighted to meet fellow Boatnerds. Oh, while I was waiting for American Integrity, my finely-tuned ears picked up the sound of Alpena's horn, down river. She could have been giving a regular salute...or a "five blast!"

Weather is cold but the winter storm system hasn't reached the St. Clair River yet.
In general, traffic is moving well, but a few vessels have already taken shelter in the Sarnia Anchorage.

As I made my way to Thanksgiving dinner, a single ship moved up the St. Clair River and I wondered what they were enjoying for their Thanksgiving feast.

Lorain... Before moving to Marysville, I lived in Ashland and drove to Lorain to see Ryerson, when she made a rare trip there. The only time I have seen (and photographed) a ship being unloaded with clam shell buckets. No idea where those photos are now.

Happy Thanksgiving, Bookworm I really appreciate the time that you spend taking and posting your pictures throughout the year. As I live in Lorain, I don't get up to the River very often. I love the area and sure do miss it though. Again, thanks and have a nice holiday.

Depending on the curvature and wind direction, the St. Clair River was a "swell" place to be -- especially early this morning -- as rising winds whipped up whitecaps. Not so much in more protected places.

What great photos there Bookworm. We too were out today for a while to see the river traffic, as the rest of the week looks very busy. We're baking the pies tomorrow for Thanksgiving dinner at Mrs. Magruder's, and we're taking one to our neighbor that everyone calls "Uncle Brother" as we promised him one months ago. Then Thursday it will be Thanksgiving dinner and related celebrations at Mrs. Magruder's house. You have a Happy Thanksgiving Bookworm!

In between running errands this morning, I captured four ships transiting the St. Clair River.

Back in the Boatnerd world again, and what a surprise I got when I arrived in Port Huron this afternoon!

Wind is raging! Block and Sykes entered the St. Clair River after midnight.
I'm running away from home for a few days but should be back the first of next week.
May all ships and their crews go safe in the gales!

Just came back from watching Lee A Tregurtha (Ashtabula) as she passed Marysville. Saw what looked to be Christmas lights on the conveyor control cab. Sure wish I was able to take night pictures. Maybe one of her crew will post on the Interlake FB page.

A perfect day to be at the river! Not much freighter traffic but I saw a sailboat coming in off Lake Huron in late afternoon!
