Heads up boatnerds and especially all you Hamilton boatnerds as well out there and get your cameras ready! The Algoma Harvester departed Port Cartier early today July 12 at 0935 hours enroute to Hamilton to unload their first official cargo of iron ore. They are currently now just passing by Baie Comeau, Quebec as I type this message. Current ETA though for Hamilton is tentative on July 15 at 1200 or noon.

According to Marinetraffic.com they arrived in Port Cartier early this morning for their very first load iron ore pellets for Hamilton. Welcome home Algoma Harvester and a hearty welcome home to Canada as well. 3 Long and 2 Short the long journey home has now ended and now your new career will be starting. Have a good and safe trip to Hamilton and wherever else your travels may take you in your career. Happy Safe and Smooth Sailings with calm seas and fair winds at your back. Looking forward to someday to see you guys up on the St. Clair River. Can't wait to see your ship!

Whoever asked about the Captain, I just saw a write up in the Algomas employee newspaper on their website. It's Captain John Ducey, he wrote a nice little paragraph.

MarineTraffic.com has them in Port Cartier with an ETA listed for July 11 at about 2100 I think it is give or take. I saw earlier on here where they were supposed to be in Hamilton by about the middle part of July around July 14 or 15 give or take as well. I also would like to know and ask "Where will they have the added deck supports or whatever they are called taken off at and removed?" The Algoma Equinox had hers removed while in winter lay-up in Toronto and just wondering how long and where the Harvester will have hers taken off and removed? Any info appreciated. Thanks.

I'll assume the Algoma Harvester has to make at least one fueling stop before it arrives in Port Cartier. Will it fuel in the Caribbean or someplace like Bermuda before it continues on?

Will the crew have had any shore time along the canal and/or is there anything worth while to go ashore if possible?

She has been stopped since last night near the Pedro Miguel Lock of the Panama Canal and all day today so far according to the Marine Traffic website. Anyone hear or know any details as to what is going on with her? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
