I'll have to put in there another Michigan team that was involved in a great bowl game. Central Michigan behind 49-14 into the 4th quarter, scoring the final 34 points in the game. Scoring on an 80 yard pass/4 lateral with 1 second left. Could have won, but missed on the 2 point conversion.

Well congratulations all of you MSU fans out there as the Spartans made a heck of comeback and beat the Baylor Bears 42-41 in the Cotton Bowl today. Many are saying that this may have been one of the best College Bowl games ever seen and watched in the history of College Bowl games. Now, if only the NFL Playoffs this weekend could be that close and good it will make for some good football watching. One of my wishes for the NFL Playoffs along with the Super Bowl is for the officials "Gosh Darn and Dang it just let these guys play and don't keep flagging and calling penalties on them all game long!" We the NFL fans live for the Playoffs and want to see the best players play and the best plays made without any penalties always being thrown. There is enough of that done in the regular season. These players (the NFL) live for these moments so just let them play in the playoffs and don't throw the flags on them. That is just my opinion and thoughts only here is all folks!

The $3.6 million for dantonio was salary. What took him to the $5.6 million was a one time stay-bonus of $2 million. No matter how you look at it, it's still a lot of money.

According to USA Today, Coach Dantonio makes 5.6 million. I agree with edm that the NCAA has to exert some control over these escalating salaries.

OK, I'll stop my whining and wish the Golden Gophers best of luck today in the Citrus Bowl against Missouri. This is Minnesota's first January 1st bowl game since 1962. We have a somewhat less than stellar all-time record in bowl games (5-11) but maybe today we can put one in the win column. Regardless of the outcome, I hope the players are having fun and I thank the seniors for their years of hard work and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

TCU thought they should be in the top 4, very impressive game, a very good team.I'm from the big ten.Ohio St. is in.We will stand our ground.Ohio St. represents our division even though it's not the Badgers.Rose Bowl brings in a lot of revenue for our division. Now if the league continues with the new playoff, top 4.We need to go undefeated to play. That should be every teams goal.I think it's great for the 4 to have a playoff to be number 1.TCU is a team that played like a number 1 seed.Ohio ST. represents the big ten now.Go Buckeyes.iunderstand about dragging it when most people can't watch because of the workday.Smelling the Roses is not going to happen for us.We will need to earn it.

Just seen that TCU "made a statement in the Peach Bowl by their rout of 'Ole Miss 42-3 since TCU got snubbed out the NCAA playoff system!" I know it will probably never happen due to big time bucks and dollars signs by corporations and sponsors and the NCAA schools but, I wish they would go back to the days before they had the BCS system and now the College Playoffs. Not to say or cause any issues, just my thoughts and opinions only on this. Also, I along with one of my brothers says "There is just way too many college bowl games every year as well!" Again, that is due to the big corps, sponsors and dollar signs. Also another to thing to think about and surely some should agree which I hope you will, playing the NCAA title game on January 11 or 12 is a bit crazy if you ask me that they wait that long to play! My brother says and tells me "They should have all the bowl games played like they used to have on January 1 every year and be done with it then!" Do any of you agree or disagree that the NCAA title game should be played sooner in January rather than later as it is now?

Dave F. - I agree with you 100 %. The Big 10 has to step in and regulate how much each college can spend on their football programs. This ' dog and pony' show in Ann Arbor is a classic example why things are way out of hand ! All this money being spent on a game is way beyond belief, not to mention being spent on a loosing program. It's time to understand the purpose of a public college is to educate students.

I'd like to wish everyone a Happy and healthy New Year. Last years Rose Bowl champions ( MSU ) will be playing in this years Cotton Bowl scheduled to be played Jan. 1 at 12:30 ET. The East Lansing team almost made it to the Big 10 championship this year. They had another fantastic year beating U of M once again this year. The Lions will be the underdog on Sunday against Dallas. They are going to need a little help from their defense to win this game.

It is appalling to me that the Board of Regents at a public university would actually think it is OK to pay a football coach such as Mr. Harbaugh 5 million a year. In Minnesota we have people who advocate giving Jerry Kill a raise because they fear he will leave for greener pastures since he "only" makes 2.1 million annually. I like Coach Kill a lot but this is nuts.

As I mentioned from my comments earlier, I was so mad along with upset when I heard that news that he won the appeal and he would only have to pay a $70,000 fine I just up and walked away from the TV! It really got me ticked off something terrible and now I am hoping and praying that they lose and the get embarrassed by the Cowboys as badly as they did against the Pack on Sunday. It just doesn't make any sense that Raiola got suspended for a hit on the Bears QB and that Suh doesn't? This is why I don't get into much sports anymore is because of garbage like what Suh did! There has been hits far worse than what Suh did I know and also other dirty players that have gotten fines and suspended. I mean what is a $70,000 fine to these guys as much as they make as it is just mere pocket change to people like us. Like I said earlier, I am rotting for the Cowboys on Sunday in hopes that they run all over Detroit and embarrass them like the Pack did last week Sunday!

I kind of like the "bad guy" persona that the Lions have. I'm not saying what Suh did was right or legal but I think teams fear playing the Lions due to this type of play. Now that we have a complete team for Sundays game there is no excuses it's all on them. Although I still think the Cowboys have the edge.

Ann Arbor saw the 20th football coach of U of M added to the rotating coaching staff today. The new coach brings his poor 8-8 record at San Fran into U of M. I can only wonder how well his reception would have been if he had won the Rose Bowl like MSU did last year. One can 'bet the ranch' that with every loss next year the reporters will be reporting the dollar loss per game at U of M. With the talent drain in U of M's football program, I can NOT see them winning against MSU or OSU in the near future. East Lansing will continue to dominate their rich brother to the south. Good news for the Lions. The Detroit news networks are reporting the Suh has won his appeal of a one game suspension and will play next Sunday in Dallas. His pocket will be missing $ $ 70,000.00.

Just heard breaking news that Suh won his appeal regarding his "stomping incident this past Sunday in Green Bay over their QB Aaron Rogers and will play in this Sunday's Playoffs in Dallas!" What a shame IMO as you can clearly see and you have to be blind not to see that he backed into Rogers' injured left calf. To me if I was the NFL commish, I would have suspended him for that game and told him "If he keeps it up then you'd be suspended for most if not all of the 2015 season!" Of course that is if I was the commish which I am not unfortunately! Just a shame IMO that there just is no justice in a case like that. C-mon folks the guy has a reputation for being a dirty player as we've all seen and heard about it and we all know he would do it again rather with Detroit or with another team possibly? My point is if he stomped on Rogers last week then if something is not going right or his way, what will he end up doing in Dallas next weekend? Knowing Suh he will stomp on one of the Dallas people and get a penalty, fine and later suspension for that! Just my thoughts. Anyone else care to comment on this?

Glad to see and hear Tim that you agree in part with me on my theory and story about the schedules and how they are made out each and every year. For Guest, "No thanks I don't need to have any cheese with that whine as I am not a whine drinker LOL but thanks anyway!" Okay, I have another good one for you all and I admit that the schedule is rotated around every year as to where Detroit plays and when. However, my question though is why then on Turkey Day whenever Detroit plays an NFC team it is usually from their own division either Green Bay or Chicago and never no one else from the NFC? Can anyone recall the last time that they played "an NFC team other than Green Bay or Chicago on T-Day?" I know at times they will play the AFC on T-Day but it just seems they always play their division games on T-Day when it is against the NFC of course. On to U-M and we finally got our man today in Jim Harbaugh. However, I did not hear in his Press Conference though "Just how many more days, weeks and months it will be until UM beats little brother MSU and also that other school to the South of here known as OSU!" I would have thought that Jimmy would have mentioned that in his speech LOL! Overall glad to see he is back home in Ann Arbor where he belongs. Yesterday on the Detroit TV News, they showed shirts being printed up that said "Ann Harbaugh on it!" I loved it and I think that is great and they also showed ticket prices for UM games skyrocketing as well!

Good point, I have often thought about the way the NFL is scheduled. The Lions always seem to come out on the short end of the stick on this.

My oldest brother did make a great point though and maybe this should be looked into with the NFL and whoever makes up the schedules! Why then is it that at the end of ever season, the Lions seem to end up finishing on the road in Green Bay when they could play them at their house any other time of the year? It just seems that every year at the end, the Lions are on the road in Green Bay during the cold weather months and never in the warm weather months! Makes you think, are the schedule makers favoring Green Bay and making it tough for the Lions then to win in Green Bay every year? I think it is!
Nice try. Want some cheese with that whine? The schedule rotates every year so next year the first matchup will be in Green bay and the second in Detroit.
Maybe this is closer to the root of the problem..

Denny, I think you may be right about the Lions and playing in the cold. They looked off today and just did not seem to be able to answer the bell. The Cowboys on the other hand rolled a pathetic Redskins team and now we get a fired up Cowboys team in their house next week. I don't like our chances one little bit.
