Traffic is increasing but, even before daylight, American Century had entered Lake Huron and it will be dark when American Mariner transits the St. Clair River.

Very light traffic today on the St. Clair River, but that's about to change!

Thanks garbear. This week I've been transferring photos from memory cards to my new computer. It's incredible how many there are, from 2003-2019, even though I delete more than I keep!
I watched today's sunrise on the Duluth Canal Cam and really envied you! Actually, the whole day at Duluth looked pretty spectacular from here.
With ships moving again, my postings will be more frequent, but it will be April before I can see the one that really brightens my day.

Caught ATB Michigan/Great Lakes (Chicago to Nanticoke) passing Stag Island this windy and dismal morning.

Within eight minutes, a downpour, clearing skies, and a rainbow. My apologies for the gray spot (raindrop) on both Algonova photos. Both tankers were headed for one of the Sarnia/Corunna Fuel Docks.

Tanker traffic remains steady and water is open and flowing smoothly on the St. Clair River.

Busy (frigid) early morning on the free-flowing St. Clair River.

Made it through over 24 hours of ferocious winds with no loss of power and only some small branches in the yard. Out and about this morning, spotted three tankers at the Sarnia & Corunna fuel docks and a tug safe and snug at her home dock.

After that seemingly endless week of frigid temps, I got restless and headed out for some time in the rain and temperatures between 45° & 50° (F).
Started at the Bluewater Bridges where Frontenac was coming off the lake to go into lay-up at Sarnia, then went on to vistas at N. Lakeport, Lexington, Port Sanilac, and Harbor Beach. Intended on going all the way to Port Austin but the rain increased in intensity and temperatures began dropping, so returned home with this photographic record.

The Polar Vortex is moving out of the area but we still have one more night of below zero temperatures to endure. Drove down to Marine City -- no good place to pull over and photograph the destruction of private boat docks. Most decks are OK because they are on the ground. Interestingly, there seemed to be more open water there than at Marysville and waterfowl were taking up every fluid ounce where they could find it.

Late this afternoon, the combined, and often frustrating efforts of the USCG (Bristol Bay) and CCG (Samuel Risley) freed Anglian Lady (Sault Ste Marie) and her barge, Ironmaster from the jaws of ice at Marine City and she, and tug Madison R. (no destination given), were moving freely through the water at Marysville.

While ice breakers Morro Bay (USCG) and Samuel Risley (CCG) continue their efforts to open a path for tug Anglian Lady and her barge in the lower St. Clair River, these are today's views from the Marysville area.
