I think it is indeed the Reserve and not the Armco as I previously mentioned. The video is shot from outside the pilothouse door and at 1:44 you can see the windows from the map room on the pilothouse. At 3:02 is a shot from on deck of the Fitzgerald with a wave clearing the spar deck.

Every year on November 10 at Split Rock Lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior a ceremony is held to commemorate the loss of the Fitz. Here is a link to a video of this years ceremony.

I seem to recall that but wasnt sure if it was the Reserve or Armco. Did not know some is actually the Fitz though, so thanks for that little piece of information!

Most of the rough seas footage is from the steamer Armco but there are a few of the Fitz in rough seas here and there.

Great post! That video gets me everytime I see it. Some nice footage of her in her prime. Is that her in the rough water portion, or another Oglebay Norton boat? Obviously if its her it was not taken that fateful day 36 years ago.
