Re: Soo Locks web cams
Not to sound negative and start any bad reactions or thoughts here from the USACE and other 'nerds but, I totally agree with you as they are the worst that I have seen also! They are back working at least for now anyway but for how long? Backup to what I started to say though, you are right as you can't see any ships on the first camera coming in from Lake Superior or after they clear the locks now like you used to. Also, when they come up for the Mac Lock or the Poe Lock you can't see them until they get right into the lock itself bummer! Then once they leave either the Poe or Mac Lock headed downbound, you don't see them after they clear the locks and you don't know if you have a lineup for the Poe Lock or not? They definitely do need an upgrade to the cameras and I hope they get it done quickly and soon before next season at least. Let's hope that they at least get the new system and cameras up soon so we all get the chance to use them soon. I for one don't want to have to wait until next year to use the new system and to work out all the bugs and other stuff with them. Get them up soon I hope!

Soo Locks web cams
I believe I read on this forum in the past that they were upgrading the Web Cams at the Soo Lock and they would be a great improvement!
The pictures that are on the Web today are the worst I can remember seeing in the last 10/15 years. One is blank, one is at least a week old the next is out of focus and only one shows a true picture.
I know that I should request a clarification from the Corps of Engineers but what do other boatnerds think?
