Which Ships Will Not Be Sailing in 2017

The St. Clair has repair work scheduled while at Toledo. so she may be sailing later on during the 2017 season.

I think i read somewhere that the shipyard in TBay is working again so I suppose they could just send her there.

I believe she would need a survey. She was last in DD in spring 2011 in Toledo when she received the red hull.

Rumour has it that all of CSL ships are fitting out including the Tadoussac word is they got a big ore contract and even have a couple Algoma ships under charter. the new SIU contract is being voted on in the next week or so for CSL employees only I guess we will see what happens very soon if they accept the latest offer from CSL. The Algoma SIU contract is also up but I'm sure that Algoma is waiting to see what happens with CSL before they start negotiations with the union 21fuii

Thought in the past couple years I'd read the Tadoussac had been stripped of a lot of parts.

Wow that's certainly great and encouraging news then if all of the CSL ships may be sailing this season! Let's hope so as that will then still give me a chance hopefully to see a few of them that I have yet to see. For instance the Salarium I have never seen yet since she was renamed from the Nanticoke. She never did make a trip last season to the upper lakes. The Pineglen although I have seen her in the red hull colors, it's always been upbound with her and never once downbound on her. So hopefully she will run then next year I can get her downbound. The Oakglen I have seen her only once downbound and never upbound yet so hopefully I can get her as well this season if she runs. Curious also to know what two Algoma ships may be on charter to CSL as you talked and also mentioned in your post? I guess time will tell on all this very soon. Forgot to mention as well the Cedarglen I have yet to see her as well upbound in her red hull colors as I've only got her downbound.

The Algoway will be sailing this year, at least according to their Facebook page. The crew is supposed to report in less than two weeks. The engine room crew is already on board, getting her ready.

Okay so now we know which ships from the ASC fleet will be out and sailing this year and which ones will not along with a few more from the US fleets and some from the Canadian ones especially with Algoma and the John B. Aird from what tugboathunter has been saying. Have not heard much on any Canadian vessels so far this winter other than the John B. Aird from tugboathunter so I was just wondering, has anyone heard what Canadian ships other than the Aird may be at the wall this year? Last season Lower Lakes had many of their ships in and out of lay-up throughout the course of the season as did CSL as well. This winter the Cedarglen along with the Pineglen are both in Montreal. Cedarglen ran some last season but was in lay-up for a while, while Pineglen did not sail until the fall season for the grain rush. Even the new CSL Trillium bulkers were in lay-up last season as well for a while. Last season also the Frontenac did not sail until late in the fall season and the Algosteel was to be used as a backup boat but finally sailed as well during the fall season. Oakglen was also thought to be done and finished yet she also sailed and Salarium which sat out most of last year sailed late as well. Just wondering what anyone has heard here?

I said this on another thread before, but the John B. Aird isn't supposed to come out in spring. Algoway is supposed to sail and I'm not sure about Algorail. And I think ASC will keep St. Clair, American Courage and Cornelius out of action.

Besides the Arthur M. Anderson not expected to sail in 2017, does anyone know or have heard of anybody else that is not expected to sail in 2017? Besides the ships that are in long-term lay-up I have to say the Algoway and the Algorail both may not sail with the new ships coming online for Algoma later in the year. Granted and Yes they may have them make a few trips and runs before they are later replaced with the new builds. Just curious is all. Thank You.
