Northup, after seeing your photo, I noticed that McNeil's October 2008 newsletter does mention that the Niagara Spirit will be pushed by the John Spence during the regular shipping season and by the Salvor during the winter months. See Soundings by Blair McNeil, President, at this link:

Still curious about the status of the McAsphalt 401.

You are correct, I was assuming the John Spence was paired with the McAsphalt 401 again this year. I did not think the John Spence was paired with the Niagara Spirit, because earlier this year I seen the tug Salvor pushing the Niagara Spirit.

Re: McAspjhalt 401 location?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the John Spence been paired with the Niagara Spirit since the fall of 2009 when McKeil's contract to move the McAsphalt 401 ended? McAsphalt 401 is listed for sale on Marcon International's site.

McAspjhalt 401 location?
McAsphalt 401 had been docked in Oshawa harbor since late last year. It just recently departed Oshawa. Does anyone know when it left Oshawa or where it is now?
