My Guess is: Burns Harbor (Downbound) and Oberstar (Upbound)

Re: First Boat at the Soo Contest
Duluth Shipping News has the Hon. James L. Oberstar due I think it is at Silver Bay in the early morning hours of March 26 so she should be pulling out soon at some point. She could be at least the first upbound at the Soo maybe? Downbound I would say it could be the Roger Blough. Could the Blough be the first ship overall at the Soo Locks two years in a row then? Not too often that happens!

Re: First Boat at the Soo Contest
My guess is Cort upbound.
See she ballasted yesterday, be interesting if she leaves
Milwaukee today.

Re: First Boat at the Soo Contest
So what if multiple people guess correctly? Just once can't I have some fun anymore with some of my ideas and suggestions here? Anymore it seems that I am always getting shot down for my ideas and suggestions and I am tired of being the bad guy along with the villain of boatwatching! It was just a neat idea or so I thought that I had of trying to guess who would be the first boat at the Soo and that person maybe getting something in return. At Duluth along with Green Bay I know they only go with one person. Okay fine then, let's figure out a way to where only one person comes up with the first boat and maybe the exact time it makes the walls at the Soo Locks before the opening. At least we can go with maybe something like that unless somebody else has other ideas here?

It's likely going to be Roger Blough, by the way.

First Boat at the Soo Contest
Okay boatnerds we are getting close to the Opening of the Soo Locks in Sault Ste. Marie in just a few short days. I have an idea and a neat suggestion that has never been brought up or talk about among all of us. The Port of Duluth-Superior along with the Port of Green Bay each year has a "First Ship arrival contest and the winner is awarded a special prize!" I say and suggest this idea "Why not have a Guess the first official ship at the Soo Locks contest here on boatnerd?" The winner or at least one with the closest guess maybe as a suggestion and thought could possibly get a nice autographed copy of the latest Know Your Ships book at least that is if Roger is agreeable on this idea and thought and it is just an idea and suggestion only. What do any of you boatnerds think of this idea and also Hey Roger are you game in and on for this idea? BTW, okay boatnerds who will be the first for 2017 at the Soo Locks this year? Don't know why but, I'm going with the Gott!
